K-9 Unit


The Selma Police Department K-9 unit consists of a supervisor, Sergeant Johnnie Cerda and the following members:

  • Officer Wyatt Gorman and K-9 "Ben".
  • Officer Noah Mitchell and K-9 "Onyx".
  • Officer Jonathan Chacon and K-9 "Pasco".
Selma PD is one of the only rural department in Fresno County to have a three team K9 unit and a narcotic detection K9, allowing them to be available to nearly all shifts.  The unit is also available to assist allied agencies when the need arises.

Properly used, the Police Service Dogs are the most effective and diverse tool known to police work.  The K9 unit has a long history or successful community service and officer protection.  The K9 unit remains committed to providing the citizens of Selma with a high level of service.
